Justine is a Maritime Archaeologist by trade, and a PhD candidate at Leiden University. In 2016, a family emergency forced a revaluation of her priorities in life. What emerged from this experience was a deep desire to combine her long held love of scuba diving and her joy of practicing yoga. Yoga initially served as a way to better control her breathing while working in scientific scuba diving, but became an outlet for self-care during an emotional time. While continuing in the field of archaeology– a childhood dream that manifested at The George Washington University, with plans to continue researching for specific projects, including the Slave Wrecks Project (in accordance with Smithsonian Institution and National Park Service) and Youth Diving With a Purpose. However, she wants to journey on this new path forward in wellness, meditation, and spirituality, all the while creating a new yogic unity between the terrestrial and the submerged. She is the creator of SirenYoga- the world's first & only fully submerged wellness program.
